Gerunds
A gerund is a word derived from a verb which is used as a noun. Gerunds end in –Ing (Singing, dancing, talking, etc.). Gerunds may be used as the subject of a sentence, complement (predicate noun), direct object, object of a preposition, etc.
Examples:

Playing tennis is his hobby. (gerund as the subject of the
sentence)

His main interest is hunting. (gerund as the
predicate noun)

They like singing. (gerund as the direct object)
·
She is good at cooking. (gerund as the object of a
preposition)
